Evergreen Principal Biography

 Debbie John, Principal

Ms. John was born and raised in Western Nebraska.  Although she loves her Nebraska football (Go Cornhuskers!), she decided to leave the cold and snow and attend Arizona State University.  At ASU she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  Ms. John moved to Colorado where she was a registered nurse for many years.  The desire to teach drove her to pursue a teaching degree from Denver University.  Ms. John taught 3rd and 4th grade for several years in Denver, Colorado and was also an Assistant to the Principal for one year before moving back to the warm state of Arizona in 2001.

Ms. John has been with the CGESD since 2001 working first at Palo Verde Elementary School as a behavioral teacher for 2 years. For the next four years, she was a Teacher on Assignment for both Palo Verde and Saguaro Elementary Schools.  In May of 2007, Ms. John completed her Master’s Degree in Leadership and Administration.  In the winter of 2007, Ms. John was appointed principal at Evergreen Elementary School.

Ms. John is fortunate to work with a dedicated staff who believes in helping our students achieve academic success as well as becoming people of great character.  In addition to our core classes, students attend a Character Education class each week to learn how to become more respectful, responsible, and caring individuals.  We also believe in helping our students understand the importance of giving back to their community.

When Ms. John is not at work, you can usually find her on a golf course, reading a good book or spending time with family and friends.
